During the summer, the DNR holds the Maryland Fishing Challenge as a way to expose people to Maryland's aquatic resources and the thrill of catching a fish. The DNR emphasizes the importance of getting children involved with the thought that if children enjoy the Bay, they will be interested in saving it. Also featured is the late Bill Burton, Maryland's legendary outdoors writer.
