The RMS Titanic disaster remains arguably the worst maritime disaster in human history.
The RMS Titanic departed on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York on April 10, 1912. 4 days into her journey she struck an iceberg and sank, claiming the lives of more than 1,500 people. Thought to be lost to history, she was discovered by underwater archaeologist Dr. Robert Ballard in 1985. The Titanic tragedy remains one of the worst maritime disasters in human history.
