[ Applause continues ] Good evening.
There's only one thing the country's been talking about and that's this program and your role in the future of the monarchy.
These two telephone numbers will stay on screen throughout the program as we ask, "Do you want a monarchy?"
-Are you a big fan of the Queen?
-Oh, absolutely, John.
I'm probably the biggest one in the country.
I love the Queen so much.
I actually recorded the Queen's speech a year ago.
Watch it every single day.
-[ Indistinct shouting ] Every single day of the year at 3 o'clock.
-I've never heard anything like it in my life.
The guy is obsessed.
-British history shows, sadly, that the British monarchy is full of murderers, usurpers, bastards, no-goods.
[ Cheers and applause ] But -- But that doesn't mean we have to do away with them.
[ Applause continues ] -Every family with 35 members in it in this country has got a couple that they really would prefer not to have.
Let's talk about a magnificent queen who has been 44 years our monarch and has brought no foot wrong.
-Basically, the people of this country, they do not want monarchy that behaves in this fashion.
We have -- We have a king who is going to be coming out.
King Charles is a self-confessed adulterer.
-I would take an interest if it was the last Queen's speech and we were going to turn the lights out in Buckingham Palace and re-- and return -- and return this country to one of equality.
[ Applause ] ♪♪ -Prince William and Diana sat together at Kensington Palace and watched it on television, and it was a telephone vote, "Do you want the monarchy?"
And Diana kept voting, "No, no, no, no."
♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ -There's been an assassination attempt on Princess Anne.
-Princess Margaret has decided to get a divorce.
♪♪ -Congratulations.
-Thank you very much.
♪♪ [ Cheers and applause ] -You're a monster.
-That's... That's... -That's called a camera.
-...by the biggest audience in television history, a sixth of the world's population.
-Excuse me.
I want to protect children.
♪♪ ♪♪ -[ Indistinct chatter ] -Not many people have asked if I'm okay.
♪♪ -Can you recover from this, sir?
♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ [ Helicopter blades whirring ] ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ -Although, by this time, Charles and Diana were no longer married, the matter wasn't over.
♪♪ The drama of a broken royal marriage was messy.
The Queen was aware of that.
She was distressed by it.
Many people saw Diana as a very deserted woman who was now left on her own with two young boys.
So a great deal of support for Diana was happening through that period.
♪♪ -This afternoon, the Princess ordered 150 foot cruiser to sail away from Saint-Tropez to slip away from the media glare.
♪♪ -According to the French news agency, a French government minister has said within the past few minutes that Diana, Princess of Wales, has died.
He said she was killed in a car crash in central Paris.
I'll repeat that.
Diana, Princess of Wales, has been killed in a car crash in the center of Paris.
♪♪ -I think the Queen behaved as any grandmother would.
She stayed in Scotland because William and Harry were there.
She looked after them.
And that's what you do.
♪♪ -The young princes are now back within the privacy of the Balmoral Estate.
They have the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen Mother to help support them.
♪♪ ♪♪ -Princess Margaret, of course, lived at Kensington Palace, and from her windows, you could see the sea of flowers, which was extraordinary.
But of course, a lot of them were in cellophane.
The smell from these flowers at Kensington Palace.
I mean, she had to keep all the windows closed.
Well, it was very unfortunate, actually.
I don't know what happened.
This extraordinary outpouring of grief.
-Oh.
[ Sobbing ] -People just went mad, screaming and crying.
-Our Queen should be here in London with her people, and they should know how all her people feel about Diana.
She would have been [Voice wavers] our future queen.
All right.
-"Your Majesty, your country needs you to come and comfort us."
Well, the Queen wasn't having that.
-I spoke to Tony very, very early.
He rang me and he said, "This is enormous doings.
This is enormous."
-After only four months in the job, Prime Minister Tony Blair must step up and address the nation.
-Prime Minister, can we please have your reaction to the news?
-I feel like everyone else in this country today -- utterly devastated.
People everywhere kept faith with Princess Diana.
They liked her.
They loved her.
They regarded her as one of the people.
She was the people's princess.
♪♪ -Tony went out a couple of times just to sort of fill the vacuum of, you know, where are the royal family?
I mean, you know, the organization was going on, but they were not visible.
If you look at Buckingham Palace, the three big windows on the right-hand side, on the first floor, was this enormous room.
We sat around this huge table, and then in the middle of the table, this big wooden box, which was a speaker, and that was the voice of Balmoral.
Suddenly, this voice came through, I'll never forget it, and it was Prince Philip's voice, and it was quite anguished.
And he -- he -- he reprimanded us and said, you know, "You must realize these boys are grieving.
They have lost their mother."
♪♪ People forgot that the royal family -- there they were, up there in Balmoral dealing with this most terrible situation.
-I think it's disgusting that they have not appeared or said a word.
-Very, very, very disgraceful I find their behavior.
-She could see it on television.
She -- She had her representatives down there in Buckingham Palace.
They were informing them up at Balmoral.
♪♪ I think she didn't want to be pushed around.
The pressure was building up.
-The British public wanted the Queen to dance to their tune, didn't they?
♪♪ -Now, more than at any other point in her reign, the monarchy is in crisis.
♪♪ The Queen returns to London.
♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ -I know you have.
[ Indistinct chatter ] [ Indistinct chatter continues ] -The Queen spends over 10 minutes listening to the crowds.
[ Indistinct chatter ] She's been doing things the same way for 70 years, and now the public are telling her she needs to change.
♪♪ So the Queen broadcasts a tribute, live from Buckingham Palace.
-Since last Sunday's dreadful news, we have seen throughout Britain and around the world an overwhelming expression of sadness at Diana's death.
We have all been trying, in our different ways, to cope.
It is not easy to express a sense of loss, since the initial shock is often succeeded by a mixture of other feelings.
So what I say to you now, as your queen and as a grandmother, I say from my heart.
First, I want to pay tribute to Diana myself.
She was an exceptional and gifted human being.
In good times and bad, she never lost her capacity to smile and laugh, nor to inspire others with her warmth and kindness.
May those who died rest in peace.
And may we, each and every one of us, thank God for someone who made many, many people happy.
♪♪ ♪♪ -Charles, like the other members of his family, is focused on his sons.
♪♪ But the world's attention soon switches to someone else.
-[ Man speaking Spanish ] Camilla.
Arturo!
Arturo!
Camilla.
-Very good.
-Camilla was the other woman.
The mistress.
The one that Charles had -- had left Diana for.
She was persona non grata as far as the public were concerned.
And she was being hounded, a totally private person.
-Now Charles wants to end the controversy, elevating Camilla from mistress to partner, so he can live openly with her and, ultimately, marry her.
But even before Diana's death, Camilla was deeply unpopular.
[ Cheers and applause ] -Welcome back to "Monarchy: The Nation Decides".
Tonight, our audience here will be voting on whether the country would want Camilla as Queen.
We'll be finding out whether Britain believes... [ Laughter, jeering ] ...there will be a monarchy 100 years from now.
-Well, you heard the reaction to the prospect of -- [ Crowd booing ] Hang on.
He hasn't even spoken yet.

You heard the reaction to the prospect of a queen Camilla.
What, in your view, are they missing?
-We've got to be scrupulously fair here.
-There's no doubt about it that Camilla Parker Bowles has behaved extremely well throughout this matter.
I mean -- [ Crowd exclaiming, laughing ] -Would she have made -- Would she -- -Let's hold on, I mean, she's never said -- She's never spoken out.
She's kept a veil of silence over everything.
She's behaved like a perfect lady.
-If you want to see a King Charles and a Queen Camilla as the future head of our monarchy, hold up a blue card.
If you don't, then please hold up a red card.
And that looks like a sea of red.
A pretty clear message to the Prince of Wales.
-It does seem pretty decisive.
They don't want a King Charles and a Queen Camilla.
-The Queen urgently needs to shore up the monarchy.
So two big decisions are made.
Charles's relationship with Camilla must remain behind closed doors.
And Andrew needs to change his lifestyle.
-You know what the bet is, don't you?
If he beats me, we have to give him back the island.
[ Laughter ] It belonged to the Duke of York in the 17th century, and if I lose today, we have to give it back.
-You want the island back, sir?
-Ah.
I'll tell you when I've won.
[ Laughter ] -Prince Andrew was a war hero.
But after 20 years in the Navy, his military career is winding down.
And now he's taking life easy.
♪♪ -If you happen to be a Prince Andrew, there's no ready role for you.
And it's so difficult because you're supposed to be special, and you're treated as special and privileged.
But what do you do?
♪♪ -So the Queen gives Andrew a proper job.
He must travel the world with captains of British industry and drum up trade.
-♪ Right here, right now ♪ ♪ Right here, right now, right here, right now ♪ ♪♪ -Geri has asked me to read the following statement.
"Sadly, I would like to confirm that I have left The Spice Girls."
-290 million Europeans will share a currency, and people in Britain will quickly feel its impact.
-For Prince Charles, who's 50 this week, today marks the beginning of a weekend of birthday celebrations.
-♪ Right here, right now ♪ ♪ Right here, right now, right here, right now ♪ ♪ Right here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here ♪ ♪ Here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here ♪ -The reception was hosted by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, who, along with the Queen Mother, spent the evening mingling with the guests.
[ Indistinct conversations ] -A test of the Queen's power comes at Charles's 50th birthday.
Camilla is not invited.
-Charles and Camilla could not have an ongoing relationship that was open.
You can't do that.
You can if you're an ordinary member of the public.
You can't if you're a member of the monarchy.
-Before the party, the Queen tells Charles, in no uncertain terms, that she will never condone his relationship with Camilla.
And so begins a power struggle between the Queen and the next in line.
-Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention, please?
-Charles, both your father and I are delighted to welcome so many of your friends, colleagues, and admirers, and we are all here with a single purpose -- to celebrate your birthday.
I would like to invite everybody to raise their glasses and join in a heartfelt and most deserved birthday toast.
♪♪ -Charles, happy birthday.
[ Applause ] -♪ Happy birthday to you ♪ ♪ Happy birthday to you ♪ ♪ Happy birthday to you ♪ [ Applause ] -Charles doesn't want to go against the Queen's wishes, but at 50 years old, not being allowed publicly to be with Camilla is becoming intolerable.
♪♪ -Nice to see you.
-It's nice to see you.
Nice to see you.
-Andrew's diplomatic service has begun.
It's a merry-go-round of meetings and junkets.
[ Indistinct talking ] ♪♪ In Bahrain, Simon Wilson is by his side.
-We had a whole raft of things that came out in advance of his visit, his dislikes, in terms of eating and stuff.
He would only drink water, had to be at room temperature, no ice.
♪♪ He always brought a large entourage with him, a private secretary, an equerry, a valet, a lady clerk, and a business adviser.
♪♪ We were shocked when a 6-foot ironing board was trying to be negotiated into one of the embassy cars.
I just could not believe that he was bringing an ironing board with him.
And I asked the valet and said, "This is insane."
And the valet's reply was, "No one knows how to iron His Royal Highness's trousers like me."
♪♪ -Part of the job, obviously, is monarchy-to-monarchy meetings.
It's good for our -- our diplomacy.
We're able to hopefully do business around these meetings.
And they very much enjoyed seeing him.
I think that there was a big difference between the way he behaved when it was meeting the senior members of the foreign royal families, as opposed to basic embassy events.
-At a business meeting in Bahrain, things take an unexpected turn for Simon Wilson.
-We had a speech prepared.
The ambassador gave the opening remarks and then said, "Your Royal Highness, will you say a few words?
", and he refused to get up.
Then he did get up, and he tapped the ambassador on the head, on two or three times, and said, "This is the man who'll tell you all about trade," and sat down.
I mean, the whole room went totally silent.
I thought, initially, when he went off-message at meetings that it was an aberration, until I found that the same thing had happened at every mission -- Oman, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Doha, Qatar.
The same behavior.
Obviously, throughout his life that he's done his own thing and was quite happy to continue in that vein, and he knew that there would be no repercussions.
There's no recourse as a member of the royal family, so no diplomat will write a critical letter.
After every single visit, a telegram would go back to the Foreign Office saying, "Everything has been wonderful.
We're all so grateful to His Royal Highness for another wonderful, successful visit."
Behind the scenes was a different matter.
♪♪ -While Andrew is rebelling against a life in diplomacy, Charles is planning his own form of rebellion.
♪♪ Charles tips off The Sun's photographer Arthur Edwards that there might be a photo opportunity outside the Ritz.
-If you asked any photographer which is the picture they want to take, it's Prince Charles with Camilla Parker Bowles.
It's the one great picture left to take.
You know, you've got to get the two of them together.
So if you get that, you're there.
-Arthur tells the whole of Fleet Street, and an army of photographers spend three days outside, waiting.
♪♪ On the third night, this happens.
♪♪ [ Photographers shouting ] [ Camera shutters clicking ] ♪♪ They arrive separately.
♪♪ ♪♪ [ Crowd cheering, camera shutters clicking ] ♪♪ -Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles, seen together in public quite clearly.
No secret about their relationship now.
♪♪ -The charade of recent years, attending the same functions but never being seen together, is over.
The result?
Pictures that were flashed around the world in minutes, and which signal that the Prince intends to run his private life as he sees fit.
♪♪ -Tens of thousands of people in London and around the rest of the country will pour onto the streets to party, celebrations for the new millennium on a scale that most people will never have witnessed before.
♪♪ -We were coming towards the millennium.
There was a new Labour government.
There were significant changes in society, as well.
How is the monarchy going to have to adapt?
That was a very interesting theme during my time at the Palace.
-New Year's Eve, 1999.
[ Fanfare plays ] Tony Blair's new Labour has built the Millennium Dome and organized a party to celebrate the end of the 20th century.
[ Cheers and applause ] The Queen is advised that she should attend.
♪♪ -Number 10 had invited the Queen and Prince Philip to join us.
These were sort of the millennium celebrations of, you know, this great new Labour government.
[ Cheers and applause ] And Tony just felt so sorry for them that they must have felt they'd had to come because he thought, "They don't want to be here."
You know, "Why would they want to be here?"
It's a half empty do.
-She understood absolutely she needed to be there.
There was a general acceptance that it was time to change somewhat, but it didn't mean it wasn't without its challenges.
[ Fanfare plays ] ♪♪ ♪♪ [ Cheers and applause ] -Tony just had a horrible feeling about it, that the exhibition was not good enough, that nothing was going to work, so he had a sort of dread going up to that evening.
♪♪ And then these trapeze artists were swinging literally above their head.
And Prince Philip said to Tony, "Look, you know, they've got no safety wires."
Suddenly had this absolute vision that one of these people were going to fall right onto the Queen and that the headlines the next day was, you know, "Queen killed by a flying acrobat."
[ Cheers and applause ] ♪♪ [ Big Ben bells tolling ] And then, of course, midnight chimes and all of that.
And we had not choreographed this.
We'd never, as far as I'm aware, discussed it with the royal household as to what is going to happen at that moment.
-5, 4, 3, 2, 1!
[ Bell tolling ] [ Cheers and applause ] [ Tolling continues ] [ Tolling continues ] [ "Auld Lang Syne" plays ] -♪ Should auld acquaintance be forgot ♪ ♪ And the days of auld lang syne?
♪ ♪ For auld lang syne, my dear ♪ ♪ For auld lang syne ♪ -The event itself, in some ways, regrettably, was slightly chaotic, and I think they went back to the sound room pretty quickly following that, but that's fine.
-She does take risks.
I think that was a bit of a risk to take.
But, no, she was out on New Year's Eve, and, you know, jolly good for her.
-Still, if the Queen finds the modern world a little difficult to navigate, she has two members of her family who are a perfect fit for it.
-♪ Everybody ♪ ♪ Yeah ♪ ♪ Rock your body ♪ ♪ Yeah ♪ -I met him, and he said hi, and he shook my hand.
-He touched my hand.
-He shook our hands.
♪♪ ♪ Backstreet's back, alright ♪ -All you English girls that think you're gonna get him, no way.
It's me.
-♪ Everybody ♪ ♪ Yeah ♪ ♪ Rock your body ♪ ♪ Yeah ♪ -I touched Harry.
[ Squeals ] -♪ Rock your body right ♪ ♪♪ ♪ Backstreet's back, alright ♪ ♪♪ -Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles have kissed for the first time in public.
He was her guest at a charity reception in London tonight when he kissed her on both cheeks.
It's the latest signal that the couple intend to make their relationship more public.
-♪ Alright ♪ -The Archbishop of Canterbury, who had previously stated that Charles and Camilla's marriage would create a crisis for the church, now begins to have second thoughts and decides to investigate the matter himself.
-I contacted Camilla through her secretary and said, "Could we meet?"
And she said, "I'd be delighted to meet up with you."
I wanted somewhere secret that wasn't in my office and therefore aroused the interest of other people and that would get out.
So I said, "Well, I have a son in Peckham.
This is his address.
Can we meet?"
♪♪ -A few weeks later, Camilla arrives at the archbishop's son's house.
-She walked through the front door, we met, and had coffee together.
And I was really struck by her.
A very nice-looking lady, very presentable, very intelligent.
We had a really animated conversation.
And we talked about her relationship with Charles going way back to when they were teenagers and so on.
And after she had left, I said, "Well, there's no way I could ever treat her as other than a really nice human being who's deeply in love with Charles."
And that affected me in talking to other people behind the scenes, and I hoped it had a way forward.
I think it did.
-But Charles and Camilla can only marry with the Queen's permission.
♪♪ And the Queen is still unsure.
♪♪ Another royal is falling in love.
-We met at university, at St. Andrews.
We moved in together as friends, and then, because we were living together, it sort of blossomed from there, really.
We just spent more time with each other and had a good giggle, had lots of fun, and realized we're sharing the same interests.
And then things happened.
-We were seeing the heir to the throne with a girlfriend who was ever so slightly out of the mold.
This wasn't somebody who the family had grown up with.
This was an individual who had come from a reasonably normal background, albeit still a privileged background.
But certainly wasn't aristocratic, and it certainly wasn't royal.
Kate, at the time was -- was one of us.
[ Camera shutters clicking ] -Kate!
Kate, Kate, Kate!
-The story of a prince and an ordinary girl plays unexpectedly well with the public and gives the Queen food for thought about royal marriages.
-Kate was, you know, a breath of fresh air.
Public recognized that, but I suspect the family also understood that whatever mistakes had been made previously with Diana, that it was important to embrace Kate and to understand the role that she could bring would potentially be massively important.
-The Queen is getting closer to making a decision about Charles and Camilla.
♪♪ But now she's suddenly faced with a personal tragedy.
♪♪ -All those years, the Queen Mother was there guiding her daughter, talking always being a sort of point of reference, helping to shape the exceptional queen she turned out to be.
♪♪ -Within the last hour, Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen Mother died peacefully in her sleep at a 3:15 this afternoon at the Royal Lodge, Windsor, at the age of 101.
The Queen was by her bedside.
-We got the call, so we all went in to the palace, and there was great sense of -- of -- of loss.
Obviously, there's work to be done, and the plans dusted off for the Queen Mother's funeral.
♪♪ -I think that the feeling is, you know, it's sad, but it was expected, and that's that.
-As far as I'm concerned, it's nothing to do with me.
Okay.
I feel a bit sorry for the rest of the family, but, no, not that bothered.
-But after the crisis of Diana's death, the Queen is unsure whether anyone will turn out to mourn her mother.
♪♪ -By mid-afternoon, the queue to see the coffin stretched over a mile, and the Westminster authorities abandoned their plan to close Westminster Hall at 6:00.
-But the death of the Queen Mother hits the nation much harder than expected.
And once again, the country wants the Queen to comfort them.
This time, she knows exactly what to do.
-Ever since my beloved mother died over a week ago, I have been deeply moved by the outpouring of affection which has accompanied her death.
Over the years, I have met many people who have had to cope with family loss, sometimes in the most tragic of circumstances.
-So I count myself fortunate that my mother was blessed with a long and happy life.
I thank you for the support you are giving me and my family as we come to terms with her death and the void she has left in our midst.
I thank you also from my heart for the love you gave her during her life and the honor you now give her in death.
May God bless you all.
-The Queen, I think, has just shown a bit more emotion.
I think you can see that in the speech that she made about her own mother, just a little bit more emotionally intelligent than perhaps she used to be.
-March!
♪♪ -She's, um, a great lady.
She's had a great life.
She's done so much for history, she's gone through so much, and she just really puts the backbone back into Britain.
-You're quite young.
Did you think all this pageantry was appropriate to the 21st century?
-Oh, definitely.
You don't forget where you came from.
Then how can you go anywhere in the future?
-The Queen's heartfelt speech resonates with the nation, and on the day of the funeral, over a million people turn out.
-It was -- it was tingling.
Absolutely tingling.
I think it came as a surprise to everybody, the huge public outpouring of grief for the Queen Mother and maybe respect and love for the Queen.
♪♪ Being head of state must be so incredibly lonely.
So having people, the public, coming out and giving their support and their love must have brought her great comfort.
♪♪ [ Applause ] ♪♪ ♪♪ -When you get a great cry and applause for the Queen, it's the nation saying thank you -- "Thank you for all you've given and all you mean to us, as well."
♪♪ -I absolutely remember it.
I was really pleased about it.
I thought the royal family are still loved and respected, and that is why there are all these people who have come out.
You know, they are not yesterday's people, by any stretch of the imagination.
They are tomorrow's people.
-In death, the Queen Mother had gifted the Queen the way forward.
The royal family would be modern.
♪♪ [ Cheers and applause ] [ Applause continues ] -Thank you very much.
-How are you feeling, ma'am?
-Um, all right.
-Just all right?
-I'm just about -- I'm just coming down to earth.
-Did he get down on one knee to propose?
-Of course.
[ Laughter ] [ Bells tolling ] -The Queen has come to realize that the old rules of the royal family can be abandoned.
And perhaps in this modern world, love conquers duty.
♪♪ It was the day of the Grand National, and I think the Queen had a quick look at that, actually, before she came in to make her speech.
And it was so charming, you know, the analogy that Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall had gone through, like, all the jumps and the difficulties, and there they were in the winner's paddock, you know?
The Duchess, she looked absolutely ravishing.
And Prince Charles -- beaming.
[ Laughs ] I've known Prince Charles ever since he was about 4.
I've always known him all my life.
And I've just never seen him look so happy.
♪♪ I mean, he realized that, at last, he was where he wanted to be.
[ Cheers and applause ] ♪♪ [ Cheering continues ] -On the 27th of June, I will tender my resignation from the office of Prime Minister to the Queen.
♪♪ I've been prime minister of this country for just over 10 years.
In this job in the world of today, I think that's long enough for me, but more especially for the country.
-The handover of power, as ever, happened behind closed doors in Buckingham Palace.
But Gordon Brown formally told the Queen that he could form an administration.
♪♪ -By the end of the decade, the Queen has welcomed not only prime minister number 11 but number 12.
And she's about to welcome a new member into her family.
[ Camera shutters clicking ] ♪♪ -Did you get down on one knee?
-[ Laughs ] You'll have to wait and see.
That's gonna stay a secret, Peter.
♪♪ -And it's a family ring.
-It is a family ring, yes.
It's my mother's engagement ring.
-What kind of ring is it?
Are you an expert?
-Not an expert on it at all.
I've been reliably informed it's a sapphire with some diamonds.
But I'm sure everyone recognizes it from, uh -- from previous times.
♪♪ -If it were a soap opera, you'd talk about stars waxing and waning.
It is a soap opera.

2010, 2012, it was time for William, Kate, and Harry, and that was just the natural order of things.
It moves on.

And, of course, you've got the Queen at the top of all of this.

The crowds outside the palace are cheering again.

This private jet is taking the Duke of York to Newcastle.
It was a reminder of repeated accusations of extravagance.
Did you have to go by private jet to Newcastle?
-Yeah, because there was no other way of getting there and back, bearing in mind from what I was doing before and what I was doing afterwards.
-Prince Andrew has been trade envoy for the past decade, and now years of questionable behavior are catching up with him.
-Prince Andrew, promoting British business at home and abroad, and at a dinner for British businesspeople in Kyrgyzstan, according to the American ambassador, insulting journalists, the French, and the Serious Fraud Office.
-That had been covered up for donkey's years about the incompetence of -- of his visits.
But things were beginning to drip out.
-Have you become an embarrassment, Prince Andrew?
-And it's not just Andrew's behavior as trade envoy that is threatening the monarchy.
-It's his links to this man, American financier Jeffrey Epstein, that have caused the latest problem.
Epstein is a convicted sex offender.
Last December, Andrew stayed with him for several days in New York.
-I'm a very strong believer in the monarchy.
It's a great shame that one bad apple should upset the apple cart.
[ Laughs ] ♪♪ -As family, do you ever have disagreements about things?
[ Laughter ] -Oh, yes.
[ Laughter ] -I will break the rule about not divulging what goes on on this one occasion.

-He's not entirely plugged into the same reality as the rest of us.
-He's not.
